Angela started working in film and television as a clapper loader, putting film in the camera. Since then she has worked as a script co-ordinator, production manager and director. She loves theater, film and television because it is about groups of people coming together to make stories. Now she has found her place - writing the stories that are the foundation for this collaboration. Below are some of her favorite projects:

THE COLONEL - A PLAY
Angela Buckingham: Writer
"The Colonel" is a story about people who think of themselves as 'good'. It was inspired by factual accounts of the “Dreyfus Affair” in 1890s France but it is the story of the secret conversations that no one can account for.
In 1895, the gracious Mademoiselle Odette Babineaux is engaged to Colonel Picquart, an honourable man. The Colonel discovers a terrible mistake made within his division. Odette, knowing no details, advises him to be honest and fix the problem. Later she learns that the crisis is the false treason conviction of the Jewish Captain, Alfred Dreyfus. She immediately recognises the social and professional danger of Picquart’s campaign for justice. Although she prides herself on being a moral woman, she begs him to abandon his cause.

THE ADVISORS - A PLAY
Angela Buckingham: Writer
Set in the English court of Queen Elizabeth I, this play is about power. Elizabeth's most respected advisors pressure her to execute Mary Queen of Scots but they are also struggling amongst themselves for influence, position and prestige. A new generation is threatening the status quo. These people use what ever weapons they have: bribery, blackmail, fear. The losers are destroyed. Lives and fortunes are lost. It is about the illusion of absolute power, how people who have power are confronted by the limits of their influence and the human need for control.

PAPER DOLLS - AUSTRALIAN PIN-UPS OF WORLD WAR TWO
TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY
Angela Buckingham: Writer/Director
This documentary film, produced by Yvonne Collins of Marina Films, is about the women who were Australian pin-ups during the Second World War. Many of the women had their pictures published with their names and addresses and so received hundreds of letters from soldiers. This is the story of three of these women: one who became a professional pin-up photographer, one who became a Tivoli dancer and one who joined the Navy. It is also the story of what happened to the men who carried the pictures of these women to war.
